Manga Shakespeare?!

Post by sailorstar165 on Sat Sep 27, 2008 9:38 pm

Shocked You bet it exists. I've read "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet" that way and actually understood them. They twist the setting around, but it's the ACTUAL Elizabethan/Jacobean English used. If you need to read Shakespeare and have NO idea what's going on, I suggest seeing if your library has a copy of these...

Oh, and by the way, Tibalt in "Romeo and Juliet" is hot, and Hamlet in "Hamlet" is even hotter. YAY TO ANIME BISHONEN!!!

It's quite helpful, actually. After all, Shakespeare's meant to be watched, not read. Reading the manga is the next best thing to seeing the play.

i've watched the 1st five episodes of Romeo X Juliet. it was soooo cool! and so much better than the actual thing, if you ask me. I was going to watch more, but the links weren't the best, and i remembered Greg Ayres rant about why people shouldn't watch anime illeagally............i felt bad..........

-_-;;; That actually wasn't what I was talking about with Manga Shakespeare.

There's actually a series of manga with the original lines and all, just different settings and it's drawn manga style.

I've read some those Manga Shakespeare, and I love them. My personal favorites (both in their original text AND in their Manga versions) are A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet.

I have watched a few eps of Romeo X Juliet, I thought it was wicked. I loved the opening song, plus the animation was beautiful.

I've never read A Midsummer Night's Dream. If they ever get the manga edition at my library, I might give it a try. XD
